About

Dublin Padel League

The Dublin Padel League is an independently run competitive league for padel players across Dublin and the greater Leinster region. We exist to give club teams a structured, competitive season with fair rankings, published results, and a straightforward path from interest to first match.

How the league works

Seasons run twice a year — typically spring and summer. Clubs register teams, nominate their players, and are drawn into divisions based on player class (1 = elite, 6 = beginner). Each division runs a round-robin group stage followed by a knockout, so every team gets competitive matches before anything is decided.

Matches are 3 rubbers of doubles padel. Captains log results through this platform and standings update in real time. At the end of the season, top teams are noted for promotion and the bottom may face relegation — though as the league grows, we keep the structure flexible.

We use an ELO rating system to track individual player skill over time. Your rating updates after every rubber you play, independent of team results, so you build a personal record across seasons.

Who we are

The league is run by Ben Havenga and Lesley O'Halloran — two padel players who wanted a proper competitive structure for Dublin clubs. This is a volunteer-run operation built around a genuine love of the sport. We keep fees low, keep the rules straightforward, and try to respond to clubs quickly — though we do this alongside full-time jobs, so we appreciate patience.

Joining the league

Clubs join by registering interest at the start of each season window. Once a club manager account is set up, your club can register teams, nominate players, and pay the season fee — currently €50 per team. Individual players can self-register and link to their club on this platform.
